A Resolution

Of the
Montgomery County Planning Commission
In appreciation of

J. Ross Pilling II

    WHEREAS, Ross Pilling Was appointed to the Montgomery County Planning Commission Board on February 22, 1996, and has served the Board and citizens of Montgomery County faithfully these past four years and

    WHEREAS, he is one of the few professional planners to ever serve on the Planning Commission Board holding a graduate degree in Planning from the University of Pennsylvania and having previously served on the staff of the Chester County Planning Commission, DVRPC and serveral private companies; and

    WHEREAS, in addition to serving on the Planning Commission Board, Ross somehow finds the time to serve on the Boards of the Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust, and the Montgomery County Lands Trust and more recently the Schuykill River Greenway Advisory Committee; and

    WHEREAS, since working on the task force to create the Montgomery County $100 Million Open Space Program in 1993, Ross has tirelessly and creatively devised ways to preserve some of the most significant landscapes in Montgomery County; and

    WHEREAS, in his current position, Ross works with landowners and developers to preserve open space in creative, fiscally responsible ways; and

    WHEREAS, he undertakes large seemingly impossible challenges (such as the preservation of Raytharn Farm) like a man with his hair on fire and is always successful in getting things done in the end; and

    WHEREAS, Ross is a card-carrying tree-hugger, meadow-steward and wetland lover; and

    WHEREAS, the board and staff have all benefited from his insightful comments and the challenges he threw before us to look at the big picture and to think outside of the box; and

    WHEREAS, Ross, who as a consultant, has generously donated far too many of his potentially billable hours assisting the county planning board and staff; and

    WHEREAS, Ross survived the Schuykill River Sojourn and finally donned his lifejacket for the photo opportunity at the end of the voyage, and

    THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Montgomery County Planning Commission Board hereby acknowledges the significant contribution made by Ross Pilling and thanks him for his tireless service, wisdom, quick wit, and energy for the betterment of Montgomery County. Furthermore, we wish him success in his efforts to preserve Penn's Woods and all other future endeavors.
